The Africa Task Force was created in January 2007
to take advantage of the knowledge and experiences of the District 5450
Rotarians who have been working with Rotary clubs in Africa. Our
goal is to expand our efforts there, both by broadening the projects at
current sites and by having more clubs involved in both existing and
new projects.
With more than 40 Rotarians and non-Rotarians involved in the Task
Force, we are sure we can make this happen.
Our focus areas are:
-
Helping Rotary projects make a bigger impact, by expanding projects to respond to community needs.
-
Offering our expertise in identifying projects, getting African Rotary clubs involved and helping with Matching Grant expertise.
-
Creating partnerships with nonprofit
organizations that can help get the job done—groups that
understand how to make a Rotary project work well.
-
Looking for organizations outside of Rotary to make our dollars go farther.
And this is just
the beginning. Our goal is to help each other further the success of
all African projects by sharing information and developing avenues of
mutual cooperation. By working with local Rotarians and community
leaders in Africa, we can help empower the communities to make a
lasting improvement in their lives.
